Privacy policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
The short version. On the Free plan, your finance data stays on your phone. If you choose Plus or Pro, it's synced to our secure cloud database so you can use it on other devices. We don't sell your data, show ads or track you across other apps and websites. You can export or delete your data at any time.
1. Who we are
ExpenSense is made by Ordenry Studio, operated by Bisheshwar Das, a sole trader based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ("we", "us"). This policy covers the ExpenSense apps for iPhone and Android, the ExpenSense web app, and ordenry.com.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you're in the European Union or United Kingdom, the GDPR rights described below also apply to you.
2. What we collect
Account details
If you create an account: your email address, first name (optional), and a password, which is stored only as a secure hash. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and name from them. If you choose Apple's "Hide My Email", we only receive a private relay address. We also store your avatar choice and app preferences such as currency, date format and theme.
Finance data you enter
Wallets, transactions, categories, tags, budgets, savings goals, debts, recurring transactions and notes.
- Guest and Free plan: stored only on your device. We never receive it.
- Plus and Pro: also stored in our cloud database so it can sync between your phone, other devices and the web app.
Receipt photos and attachments stay on your device and are not uploaded to us. Bank statement imports are read on your device, and only the transactions you choose to import are saved.
Subscription information
Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card or bank details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, tells us which plan you have, when it renews or ends, and the store's transaction reference, linked to your account ID.
Messages you send us
If you email support, we receive your email address and message. The in-app "Contact support" email pre-fills your app version, device platform and plan to help us answer. It never includes your finance data.
What we don't collect
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- No location, contacts or microphone access.
- The camera and photo library are used only when you attach a receipt, and those images stay on your device.
- Reminders and budget alerts are scheduled on your device. We don't send push notifications from a server.
Like any online service, the providers that run our servers keep short-lived technical logs (for example IP address and request time) for security and to keep the service running.
3. How we use it
- To provide the app: sign-in, syncing your data, and restoring it on a new device.
- To apply your plan and unlock the features you've paid for.
- To send account emails you need, such as confirming your email or resetting your password.
- To answer your support requests.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We don't sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or use your finance data to build profiles about you.
4. Where it's stored
Synced account and finance data is stored by our database provider, Supabase. Our service providers may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on providers that protect data to a standard comparable to Australian law.
5. Who we share it with
Only with the service providers we need to run ExpenSense, and only for that purpose:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in and storage of synced data (Plus and Pro) |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscription status |
| Apple and Google | App distribution, payments, and sign-in if you use "Sign in with Apple" or "Continue with Google" |
| Email delivery provider | Sending account emails (confirmation, password reset) |
| Cloudflare | Hosting this website and our email |
| Frankfurter (exchange rates) | Currency rates for multi-currency. Only currency codes are sent, never your data. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or ourselves.
6. How long we keep it
- We keep your account and synced data while your account exists.
- When you delete your account, it's removed from our database straight away. Copies may remain in our providers' backups for a limited time (usually up to 30 days) before they're overwritten.
- Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own purchase records as required by their policies and by tax law.
- Support emails are kept for as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and correct: your details and data are visible and editable in the app.
- Export: Settings → Sync & backup → Back up everything, or Settings → Export for a CSV file.
- Delete your data, keep your account: Settings → Sync & backup → Reset all data.
- Delete your account: Settings → tap your name at the top → Delete account. See Delete your account for details, including how to ask us by email.
- Ask us: email [email protected] for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it. We'll reply within 30 days.
If you're not happy with how we've handled a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. If you're in the EU or UK, you can contact your local data protection authority.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Our database uses row-level security, so each account can only read its own data. You can also turn on App lock (Face ID or fingerprint) and hide amounts on screen. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep your phone locked.
9. Children
ExpenSense is meant for people aged 16 and over. Younger users need a parent's or guardian's permission. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app. If you keep using ExpenSense after a change, the updated policy applies.
